Midsummer Update
So I've been feeling a bit guilty for not updating - it's certainly not as though nothing is happening. Since I last updated I have:

- graduated
- moved out of Random
- moved into Oracle Corporate Apartment
- started working at Oracle
- made lasagna
- gone climbing a bit
- joined the Burlington Library
- gone to NY for a day to look at the Origami Convention
- gone to Salem to look at the Peabody Essex Museum
- gone to Cape Cod
- gone to Canobie Lake amusement park
- gone clam digging
- taken the Cape Cod potato chips factory tour
- taken some trapeze classes
- exercised almost every morning
- made a stamp of an origami bunny
- started letterboxing
- eaten lots of delicious food (both eating out and staying home)
- been to the Fells
- and Horn Pond
- and Lake Quannapowitt
- baked something every week
- ran to/along the beach
- swam across a lake
- started a crochet project
- read a lot of books
- bought climbing shoes
- made ratatouille (but I still haven't seen the movie)
- biked around Cape Cod
- packed lunch almost every day (I didn't pack the first day of work, nor for this other lunch event)
- played scrabble
- relaxed
- enjoyed life :)

Sorry that so many of my updates are lists...I don't often have time and motivation to update, and, by the time I do, there are so many things built up that I can't go into detail about all of them so it ends up a list. Feel free to ask questions about any part of the list if it interests you. I may have done more than this that I'm forgetting...

My parents just ran into your parents at Costco, which reminded me that I hadn't heard from you in a while. I have been baking too! I decorated my first cake from cake class with dots in the fibonacci sequence...it looks very nice.

Your baking is undoubtedly more elaborate than mine. Particularly if you are taking a cake class. Your baking also appears to be geekier than mine.

-five ten siren's..they were the only shoes in the store that fit reasonably at all
-Oracle is ok. The people are all really nice. The work isn't too bad. The stuff I'm doing outside of work far outweighs it as far as interest, though

what is it you're doing at oracle?

how are the fells? I've been intending to go there for a while now but still haven't.. maybe when I finish my thesis

re: trapeze, nice! bet that's fun

rather non-descript code-monkeying on this product called Oracle Warehouse Builder.

The fells are very pretty. I've only been to a small bit of it so far (they're also quite large). I did the Wrights tower letterbox there, and the tower was much nicer than I expected. It's being renovated though, so it wasn't open. :(

Trapeze is fun, but it's rather expensive. I'm going again on Thursday - when you first start they have an intro package of 3 classes for 2. I've been going every other week and this will be the third time... Not sure if it's worth the money after that, though. I won't be able to do it after the summer's over (and I stop having a car) anyways.

ah code monkey-ing.. good song, though :)

yeah, I saw they are quite large.. that's how I found them: I zoomed out on boston in google maps and saw this large park area and immediately became interested :)

I had never heard of letterboxing, I looked it up after I saw your post

too bad about it being expensive.. if I had time and cash for an expensive hobby, I'd take pilot lessons.. maybe someday.. seems like fun :)

ah...I'm pretty sure it's cheaper than pilot lessons. I think it might even be cheaper than glassblowing frequently is. If I thought I was going to be able to take a bunch of classes and develop any sort of real skill, I might do it. However, for an activity that I'm just doing a few times over the summer, it's not worth it. I'm better off accumulating more climbing skill, as that's something I can still do during term. (and it's substantially cheaper in the long run)

I dunno, mountains are pretty expensive.. but I bet buying one is cheaper than renting in the long run

I'm sure it is cheaper than pilot lessons.. I looked once but I don't recall how much it was, quite pricey though.. need to win a macarthur fellowship, then I'd be able to afford it :)
so if you know anyone who is a nominator.. :)

Wait, you're working for Oracle? You're not out in CA, are you? (I bike past the Oracle corporate headquarters here every day. :)

no. I'm in burlington, ma. The only Oracle intern here, too. Everyone else is in CA. It does sound a bit mmore interesting. If I were in CA we probably would have hooked up to do something together by now.
