Hey all [Feb. 15th, 2009|11:08 am]
Since I've been posting to Posterous lately and not so much to other places, I thought that I would go ahead and enable auto-posting from Posterous, so those of you that keep tabs on me from other media (read...basically everybody, since I have almost no friends on Posterous) can see what I'm up to.

Most of my autoposts to livejournal will probably be from my more LJ-like blog at happythoughts.posterous.com,  but I'm also keeping a more media-ful (and potentially more interesting) blog at hawksley.posterous.com. I will probably autopost to facebook from both. (The images are not autoposted behind a cut for LJ and I often upload a bunch of images at a time)

Anyhow, for the two people who want to know what's going on with my life...there you are.

ps. Posterous is awesome.

because I should [Jan. 10th, 2008|10:49 am]
[Bunny is | nostalgic]

Stuff has been happening, but I'm not too good at posting.
The first term of my MEng year is over, and I successfully got A's in both my classes even if I didn't do as much work on my thesis as I might have liked. I'm still conflicted between getting a job and going to graduate school. blah.
There's other stuff going on, but I don't want to talk about it yet. A brief rundown of my vacation:

At home we:
Hosted one party for all my friends. I taught them Pass the Chicken, it caught on a bit more than I thought it would.
Saw my grandmother a lot.
Went to the annual party in Ohio. We got there much later than usual, and then we all came back early because Joline was hosed. :(
Went climbing.
Went to ET's annual New Year's Day party. There was *so much* Pass the Chicken going on, seriously a lot. We also went through an entire Apples-to-Apples deck.
Went snowboarding and fell a lot.

Went to Sasen's wedding party, it was awesome.

Haven't been able to get work done in lab. blah.

looking forward to mystery hunt.

Still don't know what classes I'm taking next term. ...

Chocolate Bubble Wrap [Aug. 14th, 2007|10:31 am]
Some of you may remember my freshman year, when Marla and I filled our room with some rather absurd quantities of bubble wrap. It's a shame that we never got some of this , but I suppose if we had had much of that we may never have been able to convince Koi to come to the eshman-Fray ossip-Gay ub-Clay eetings-May and tell us stories. And, you know, that would have been sad, too.

Midsummer Update [Jul. 17th, 2007|08:32 am]
[Current Location |at Home in Burlington, MA]
[Bunny is | calm]

So I've been feeling a bit guilty for not updating - it's certainly not as though nothing is happening. Since I last updated I have:

- graduated
- moved out of Random
- moved into Oracle Corporate Apartment
- started working at Oracle
- made lasagna
- gone climbing a bit
- joined the Burlington Library
- gone to NY for a day to look at the Origami Convention
- gone to Salem to look at the Peabody Essex Museum
- gone to Cape Cod
- gone to Canobie Lake amusement park
- gone clam digging
- taken the Cape Cod potato chips factory tour
- taken some trapeze classes
- exercised almost every morning
- made a stamp of an origami bunny
- started letterboxing
- eaten lots of delicious food (both eating out and staying home)
- been to the Fells
- and Horn Pond
- and Lake Quannapowitt
- baked something every week
- ran to/along the beach
- swam across a lake
- started a crochet project
- read a lot of books
- bought climbing shoes
- made ratatouille (but I still haven't seen the movie)
- biked around Cape Cod
- packed lunch almost every day (I didn't pack the first day of work, nor for this other lunch event)
- played scrabble
- relaxed
- enjoyed life :)

Sorry that so many of my updates are lists...I don't often have time and motivation to update, and, by the time I do, there are so many things built up that I can't go into detail about all of them so it ends up a list. Feel free to ask questions about any part of the list if it interests you. I may have done more than this that I'm forgetting...

so, yeah...I'm going to graduate... [May. 29th, 2007|11:49 am]
The last few days have been sort of weird. I've finished everything that I need to graduate...so now I'm just waiting to do so, I guess. For the first time in ages I feel like I legitimately don't have that much that needs to be done.

I need to get on the ball with packing up my room and stuff, and I need to deal with random other internship and MEng things, but that's pretty much it. I've been doing a good approximation of not very much since I turned in my UAP on Friday.

Not living in Random next year just seems bizarre. I'm going to be back at MIT for my MEng in computer science, so my life isn't really changing all that much. Except that I'm stuck living in a double room again. :(

Life and Other Things [Apr. 26th, 2007|07:13 pm]
Life is coalescing a bit. Despite ridiculous amounts of work I'm still not doing as well on stuff as I'd like. blech. I'm going to MEng next year, and I have a lead on someone I might talk to about an MEng project that I'd actually like. I'm staying on top of most things.

Lots of Earth Day stuff lately and always (even when it's not anywhere near earth day, actually).

Got a pedometer, trying to walk more. Now that synchro season is over we're only swimming twice a week which means that I have time to cross-train/do other exercise/whatever. It's kind of fun.

Thinking about moving out of Random is weird. Actually considering the logistics of moving stuff out of my incredibly messy room is ... intimidating.

Read some books for fun, went on long walks now that it's warm, nice happy things.

Also, a somewhat amusing thing.

complaints! [Nov. 14th, 2006|11:24 am]
[Bunny is | busy]

The Helsinki Complaints Choir is just about one of the most amusing things I've seen in a while. It needed to be shared...even if everybody else probably already saw it before me...

Other than that, life goes on as normal I guess.

  • Found a thesis project
  • Getting senior picture taken today
  • lots of work for classes
  • too much punting
  • swimming
  • it gets dark too early
  • Thanksgiving is absurdly soon

(no subject) [Oct. 14th, 2006|06:58 pm]
Some combination of 6.170 and 9.66 and maybe even all my other classes is making me totally sapped. I also need to do a 6.uat presentation at some point...and make up the recitation I accidentally skipped on Thursday because I'm an idiot who doesn't know when her classes are. argh. and I can't do it yet because my TA hasn't posted the videos of the recitation online. And I spent several hours on something that should have been trivial for 9.66...and it still doesn't work! ...grah! *hate*

I went and retrieved comfort food...and have reached the following conclusions:
Ben and Jerry's sorbet is sickeningly sweet. I think I'm going to throw the rest out. yech!
Terra Nostra's Ricemilk Choco with Dark Truffle Center is very good though, that nearly made up for it. :)

Things in my life.
Housewarming parties and such that I have been missing.
Koi had a birthday.
I'm taking 6.170, 9.04, 9.66/6.804, and 6.uat.
I'm listenering 9.29.
If you don't know the numbers and are really curious, ask.
I went to see Corteo, it was shiny.
I joined the synchronized swimming club.
6.170 psets are long and have been killing my weekends.
My voice sounds really funny to me.
I'm not ready to be a senior.
I declared course 6.
There is a lot of reading.
I wish 9.66 would hand out a pset already.
I should tool now.

My daddy is coming to visit me today! And I have a copy of Castle Waiting It's so cute, it thinks it's a real book. And there are about a hundred updates I should have made, but didn't (in part because of journaling elsewhere...but mostly just because I'm lazy/busy/not near a computer when I want to update). As a result, you all miss out on my fun'n'exciting trip to NY where i saw a broadway show, and wandered around and went to the natural history museum, and went to the origami convention. You also miss out on everything else that's happened in the month and a half since then. ha!

75 is a big number. [May. 27th, 2006|02:41 pm]

[Bunny is | anxious]
[Stuff and nonsense |stupid noise pollution from the guy living under me]

This is what happens when you decide to update old entries with new information rather than just writing a new entry...

with grades from only two three FOUR classes back, I have a 5.0 for the term
...
this is not going to last very long...finals have not been nice to me.

Particularly not 6.046

I've had three so far.
and I still have one more tomorrow in thirty minutes.
6.046
and it's not going to be pretty.
and it needs studying for so very, very badly.
argh! desire to put is *so* strong.

...and I'm almost a Senior. That is rather terrifying.

Dryers are huge!!! [May. 26th, 2006|10:28 pm]
[Bunny is | bitten]

I almost feel like you could fit two people in them...

Was outside walking today. Noticed a couple of times the sensation of getting bitten. I appear to be correct, as I now have itchy mosquito bites to show for it. The itchiness is going to drive me insane soon, I swear...

Going home to Michigan tomorrow!
link2 scritches|scritch the bunny

the end... [May. 25th, 2006|09:45 am]
[Bunny is | contemplative]
[Stuff and nonsense |Something with string instruments]

finals are over.
...so i suppose that means that summer has begun...
but I made a really stupid mistake on the 6.046 final and feel like an idiot. especially since the mistake is going to cost me about 20 points on a 180 point final that was not all that hard. argh. I need to stop going on about it, but it's really bothering me because the question was so simple and I was just going about it in completely the wrong way. ...extremely frustrating. I need to do something to get my mind of term, though. It's over. Done with. on to the next things. I have a whole slew of things that I need to do now. The "N" key on this keyboard is extremely finicky. There's apparently a trapeze school somewhere around Boston. It sounds interesting, but also a bit expensive and appears to require a car to get there. It appears to be ~$60 for the first class and ~$40 thereafter - assuming that you actually attend more than one session. They also offer aerial silks, which sounds rather more interesting to me - that has always been one of my more favorite circus acts. However, they are rather lacking in any scheduled times for it which leads me to question whether or not it is currently being offered. I'm working on laundry now, attempted to get some exercise earlier, but pretty much failed, and should go finish laundry now, since the laundry server tells me the last load is done drying. And perhaps deal with other tawdry stuffs like cleaning my room, calling my mom, and dealing with paperwork. bleh
I may just decide to punt it all and go for a walk or something.

sport cthulu [May. 8th, 2006|03:21 pm]
[Current Location |on my nice big bed...not concentrating]
[Bunny is | unfortunately puntful]
[Stuff and nonsense |airconditioner sound goes shhhhhhhh]

Today's question is : when will the bunny stop punting?
or...maybe... do I *really* want a sport cthulu shirt?

details on shirt )
want a say? ...vote!!! )

In other news, two more stressful weeks of school... projects, projects, more projects...then finals....aaaaah! and I decided to stay with my current job, since finding a new job this close to the end of term would be too stressful for me, and I'm going to quit any UROP I get at the end of the summer anyways (for the sake of 6.170) ...

Also, any advice on learning java/preparing for 6.170 over the summer would be appreciated.

hypothetically speaking [Apr. 19th, 2006|10:10 am]
[Current Location |cluster]
[Bunny is | cynical]
[Stuff and nonsense |sound of a slowly printing pdf]

two of the classes i want to take in the fall conflict...grar!
do you think that 3.5 classes in the fall and 4.5 classes in the spring next year is reasonable?
(In the fall, I'm planning on taking 6.170 - so lighter courseload than usual)
why am i not getting little "I've printed!" messages? ...surely *something* has printed by now, right?
or maybe it's stalled...more grar!
*goes to check printer*
it appears to be printing super-uber slowly.
at least it's printing.
I need to renew my origami-usa membership.
I guess I probably won't be able to take 9.85 - unfortunate :(
I should replace it with either a HASS or a course 9 class.
I can figure that out later, though.
I wonder how many pages are left.
I'm not looking forward to this test.
I hope this essay is not too hard to write.
I'm punting.
I'm really upset about my job situation for the summer.
This has been slowly printing for nearly 20 minutes...
I should be going over course notes.
I have 8 classes left that i need to graduate with a double major in 6 and 9.
They're really restricted.
The course 6 ones are all defined.
I have a choice of two course 9 classes.
and one HASS.
I feel trapped.
Somebody should give me an awesome job that somehow combines 6 and 9.
ok...tooling now, really.

gleep... [Dec. 3rd, 2005|01:31 pm]
is it december already? My how time flies when you feel infinitely hosed.
Things:
Watched the Read or Die television series
Saw the Star Wars Musical
Saw the Harry Potter movie and finally got around to reading the latest book
Studied and tooled and studied and tooled and studied...
Had four tests in one week
forgot things.
slept. more sleep. yay!
I had a really long update at one point, but then I lost it...
doomfulness...
Anyhow, the point of this update is,

Things that are awesome:
